Jana J. Haeckel

Researcher

Dr. Jana J. Haeckel is a researcher, curator and lecturer who examines image and body politics in contemporary art, specifically in the new ethics of photography in the digital age. She currently teaches theory and history of photography and exhibition making at KASK & Conservatorium School of Arts Gent and works as a freelance curator. Prior to this, she served as director of Photoforum Pasquart, Switzerland, and has worked for the Goethe-Institut Brussels, Pinakothek der Moderne Munich and Boros collection Berlin. Haeckel holds a PhD in art history from UC Louvain and studied art history, comparative literature and Romance Languages at the Humboldt Universität Berlin, Freie Universität Berlin and Sorbonne Paris. Recent publications include 'Everything Passes Except the Past' (SternbergPress, 2021).
